Living in faith everyday.

We believe in the Christian theological construct of Imago Dei. That is, that we are created in the image and likeness of God, and, as such are inherently relational in our being; created to be in relationship with God, others, self, and our environment. While we celebrate diversity in our cultural and racial identities, expression, experiences, and personal characteristics, we are one body in Christ and seek to live in unity and community with one another. We are responsible to and for one another and continually work toward relating in ways which are just and reflect Gods heart for creation. The wisdom of an old African Proverb reminds us, if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together. Being a part of The Life Church means being part of a community where we do life together, we invite you to go with us!
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. Ecclesiastes 4:12

The Life Church recognizes that justice is to be sought through restoration, acts of love, and mercy. We are reminded in Micah 6:8 that the Lord requires of us “To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God”. The Life Church is committed to seeking justice, rooted in our love for God and all God’s creation. Individual, and collective trauma can be healed when we seek Shalom, rather than retribution when addressing injustices. Humility requires us to submit to God’s vision and place the needs of His children above our human desires, and to emulate the love of Christ by becoming channels of his peace.
And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8

The Life Church recognizes that Christ does not require our perfection, but rather our perseverance in remaining faithful to God’s teachings. We are reminded in 2 Corinthians 12, that “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” God does not hate what He creates, and our church recognizes that while human beings are at times fallible, we may apply our gift of free-will to actively seek God through humility, service, love for one another, as well as ourselves. As a church, we seek to inspire each other and the community to discover ourselves through the recognition that every day is an opportunity to grow to be more faithful than the day before.
I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. Philippians 3:12-14

The Life Church believes that the cornerstone of the Christian faith is love. Our church recognizes, as Christ commanded, for us to love one another, as Christ loved us. This requires our community to strive to exhibit Christ’s love in all interactions with one another. The Life Church is committed to providing a courageous space for individuals to learn lessons rooted in scripture that will further equip us to love more fully, more justly, and more humbly as we seek to create a community of kinship and compassion for all.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10
